It may seem unlikely, but this one was kind of a decoder ring for all the music I would get into for the rest of high school. I was hopelessly crushed out on this kid at SVU who was a senior when I was a freshman and he would mail me these sadsack mixes that I would stay up all night listening to. I didn’t end up seriously loving most of these artists but they eventually led me to others that I felt were more my speed. Also, I’m so glad someone put “Fade Into You” on a mix for me before I got jaded enough to know to snicker at that.
